What is Success?

In 5th grade we were required to memorize a poem.  You got to choose your grade depending on how much effort you were willing to put forth.  You could choose to memorize one to four stanzas to repeat in front of the class from memory.  This is the assignment we received:

If you never try,

You'll never have to face defeat.

If you never run a race,

You'll never lose a heat.

C

If you never stretch your talents,

You won't risk a tear.

If you never take a chance,

The odds you'll never fear.

B

But if you have a lifelong wish,

And you don't venture out,

You will never overcome

Uncertainty and doubt.

A

And if you have a goal to reach

And time is passing by.

You will never know fulfillment

If you never try.

I chose an A and have loved this poem ever since.  The poem does not use the word success.  To me success is trying and learning from our mistakes and celebrating our accomplishments.  Fulfillment is success. What makes us feel fulfilled is different for each one of us.  I have many sources of fulfillment but the one I would like to share with you is my love of gardening and our new endeavor...BEES!

At the moment it a research project, but I would love to learn and share along the way!  There is always room to improve and I will never stop learning!
